WEAVE condemns the anti-Black racial ideology and harm that have been both state-sponsored and inherited for generations through our personal behaviors, language, and actions.
As of this historic moment, our participation in the racist systems & structures that make this country "function" makes us all complicit. Our country was created on the backs of Black and Brown lives and it is long past time we come to terms with it and begin to repay those debts.
Black and Brown lives represent the roots of American culture and WEAVE was founded to acknowledge that fact, celebrate it, and share it with our overwhelmingly White and privileged Bainbridge community.
Once we come back from our COVID hiatus, we will continue our mission of centering Black and Brown lives in order to honor them for all they have contributed to our civilization but most especially to the American Performing Arts.
We will self-reflect at every turn to make sure our actions, hires, and policies are both anti-racist and compassionate. We are always open to feedback, suggestions, and support.
We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and we hope to help build and maintain an anti-racist community right here on Bainbridge.
