Trombonist Freddy Fuego Gonzalez, leads a sextet for a night of funk, reggae, afrobeat, and hip-hop grooves.

Freddy is a professional trombonist and composer from New York City with 20 years of performing and recording experience. He is currently working in Seattle, WA and most recently wrote the  music for Emmy nominated documentary “Senior Year Was Crazy” (KCTS9,  2020), which aired locally on PBS in Seattle and nationally in Canada.

As an educator, was featured on NPR in June 2020 for a one-on-one  interview that spoke about the importance of teaching students the  history of protest music.

As a performer, he completed the ‘Sirope’ world tour with 20-time  Latin Grammy award-winning artist Alejandro Sanz in 2018. Tour spanned  15+ countries across Spain and Latin America, with over 1 million total  spectators. Was a featured soloist on the live DVD, ‘Sirope Vivo,’ which  won the 2016 Latin Grammy and was nationally televised on HBO Latino.  One-time concert ‘MÁS es MÁS’ (2017) was performed for over 50,000  people at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.

Gonzalez opened for Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, B.B. King, and Talib Kweli  while performing alongside Juan Luis Guerra, Bootsy Collins, Arturo  O’Farrill, and Melissa Aldana (among many others). Featured on Wu Tang  Clan’s “A Better Tomorrow” (2014). Performed at the “Tudo e Jazz”  Festival in Ouro Preto, Brazil (2013).

Other notable venues include El Estadio Nacional (Peru), The Bimhuis  (Amsterdam), The Kennedy Center (D.C.), Yankee Stadium and Alice Tully  Hall at Lincoln Center (NYC). Television appearances include El Festival  de Peñas Villa Maria (Argentina 2018), El Festival de Viña del Mar  (Chile 2016), The Today Show with Jesse McCartney (USA 2013), and  Noturno with The Underground Horns (Brazil 2013).
