About the Event

Dr Scipio will discuss how books help children view, at an early age, not only how diverse the world is, but how they fit into it. Parents and educators will learn about how to recognize biases in books, and to choose (or help kids choose) books that normalize - and foster dialogue about - differences such as race and ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, family structure, and more. We are excited about the rich conversations that Dr Scipio's presentation will spark among the evening's participants.
