About the Event

In March 2020, the fabulous Marina Albero got a barrage of concert  cancellations and watched her primary income vanish instantly.  When she  saw the terrible domino effect this outbreak was having on the  community as a whole, she sprung into action and came up with an idea to  invite musicians to offer live concerts streamed from a recording  studio and make it available to the public for free or for donations to  help pay the artists.  “We need to share information, especially  solutions, and stick together, support each other,” Albero said. The  Quarantine Sessions soon became a womxn-led force to be reckoned with.  It gained notoriety at a breakneck speed, grew a national audience, were  written up in dozens of national and international periodicals, and won  many awards including Earshots Community in Action award in 2020.

With the pandemic slowly and hopefully receding, the Quarantine Sessions is evolving. Let Her Lead is an intimate conversation between womxn musicians and their supporters about how we perceive and imagine community.  Let Her Lead holds space and creates an intentional and safe environment where the feminine voice is centered and elevated through musical collaboration and freedom of expression.

Each womxn brings her own reflections in the form of songs, poems, or  thoughts about their concerns, ideas, and inspirations on how to thrive  through life. Though we are not social distancing the way we were just a  year and two years ago, space for human interaction is sorely needed.  Music will weave the thread connecting us to each other and giving us   just the medicine we need right now.
